Freedom Square, Yerevan

Freedom Square or Liberty Square (Armenian: Ազատության հրապարակ Azatut'yan hraparak, formerly Theatre Square (Armenian: Թատերական հրապարակ T'aterakan hraparak, Russian: Театральная площадь Teatral'naya ploshchad, also known as Opera Square Armenian: Օպերայի հրապարակ Operayi hraparak) is a town square in Yerevan, Armenia.

The statues of Hovhannes Tumanyan (most famous Armenian writer) and Alexander Spendiaryan (founder of Armenian national symphonic music) are located in the square.

An underground parking was built in 2008-2010.

Historical events

The semi-circle shaped square is known for its significant role in modern Armenian history.
